1. Asset health assessment and management
The researchers will work on a joint research project between NTU and SP (Singapore Power) company. The research scope includes asset (including transformer, switchgear, and cable) health modeling, health and criticality index development, risk assessment, asset renewal and maintenance optimization.
Requirement: strong research experience in asset health modeling and aging analysis, reliability assessment (asset level), statistical analysis, portfolio investment optimization, asset renewal and maintenance optimization. Candidates with mathematics and finance engineering background are also welcome.
2. Distributed energy resource (DER) optimization and control
The researchers will respectively work on the following projects:
1)  DERMS (distributed energy resource management system) project, which is funded by National Research Foundation (NRF) of Singapore.
2)  EDGE (Exploring Distributed Generation) project, which is funded by Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore, and in collaboration between EDF Singapore Lab, TUM Singapore Campus, SIT, and NTU.
The research scope includes load/renewable power forecasting, uncertainty characterizing, controller design for microgrids with high-level DERs, energy management system development.
Requirement: strong research experience in statistical analysis, optimization algorithms (stochastic programing, robust optimization, and distributed optimization, etc.), microgrid controller design, GUI programming and development.
3. Data-analytics for smart grid applications
The researchers will work on multiple research projects on the following topics:
1)  Power system stability assessment and control
2)  Equipment fault diagnosis and condition monitoring (focusing on electric motor, power converter, energy storage battery)
3)  Data-driven power system operation and control (including frequency and voltage control, and real-time optimal power flow)
4)  Smart metering data analytics for residential load forecasting, non-intrusive load disaggregation
5)  Cyber-security for AI applications
Requirement: strong experience in AI and machine learning algorithms, candidates with the computer science background are also welcome.
